If you've never been to Alaska look no further! This fun guide will give you my top tips for having fun while exploring the Alaska summer!
First stop: Alaska! The bright lights, the blue glaciers, the greens of the mountains, the Northern Lights, all of that and more you can find in the last frontier, Alaska.
1) Take a selfie with a Glacier - most popular reason to come to Alaska is to see the Glaciers. That's a big piece of ice in the middle of the ocean, if you don't like ice then Alaska is probably not the best place for you. There will be lots of ice, no matter where you go, and you have to dress warm if you are looking to see a Glacier up close.
2) Go on the famous Mt. Robert's Tram in Juneau - it's the best picture perfect spot, you can see the best view from up there and tell everyone you've been to Alaska.
3) Red Dog Saloon - sample your favorite beer, my favorite is the Alaska White!
4) Get picked up by Lumberjacks in Ketchikan - right after the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show!
5) Hug a Polar Bear - wait that's not a Polar Bear! Be mindful when approaching wildlife, but if there's someone you don't like or if a family member is annoying you, then make sure they get as close as possible! There aren't many bears around but not all who saw them came back to tell the tale!
6) See the whales - anywhere! If you see a whale tail, you're lucky but if you see a family of whales you're even luckier! Watch for the breathing patterns and if you see a splash of water into the air most likely, that's a whale! A great place to spot whales is at Icy Strait Point, we got lucky that day!
7) Pick your favorite hiking trail or ice cave - my favorite is the Perseverance trail in Juneau!
8) Take pictures of bald eagles - just because!
9) Zip lining in Icy Strait - if you're in the adventurous mood, this is the biggest zip lining route in the world, it's only 90 seconds but could be the BEST 90 seconds of your life (for some people)
10) Fall in love - if you can! It's not easy to find love, but in every international travel, people are more likely to be open to new experiences. If you're not already hitched, Alaska might be a good place to fall in love. Underneath the covers, with a hot chocolate or salmon chowder in hand!
